Each one of us needs daily direction and strength along life's way. At Shining Light Baptist Church we believe that God's Word is the light that we have been given to direct our pathways and strengthen our hearts. God has blessed our church family and given us a great opportunity to shine the light of His Word to the Monroe and Greater Charlotte areas. Our sincere desire is for you to know Christ as your Savior and to make your life count by serving Him through the local church. Jesus said, "Ye are the light of the world." Tim Cruse is the pastor of Shining Light Baptist Church in Monroe, North Carolina. He became pastor on March 7, 1990, after serving as youth director at New Hope Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina, for almost nine years.
Pastor Cruse trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while a senior in high school on January 4, 1981. He surrendered to the call of God upon his life to preach forty-nine days later. He enrolled in Bible College that fall to prepare for the Lord's work. While in college, he met his wife Rebekah. God has since blessed them with seven sons - Timothy Stephen, Aaron Samuel, Caleb Nathaniel, Jared Daniel, Andrew Benjamin, Joshua David, John Philip; and three daughters - Caroline Ruth, Hope Elisabeth and Victoria Leigh.
With conviction and compassion, Pastor Cruse stands firmly on God's Word. He is committed to proclaiming the gospel of Christ and to strengthening God's work in the home through the local church. His life's verses are Galatians 6:9, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" and Jeremiah 18:6, "...cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand..."
