If you are reading this page, then you are probably considering moving to the Greater Charlotte area, or have just done so. Many people are relocating to our area because of our proximity to the growing city of Charlotte and its abundant opportunities. Our job market is strong and our housing is more affordable per square foot than in many other parts of the country. We have a mild climate and yet enjoy all four seasons of the year. We certainly love this area and readily understand why so many others are calling Monroe, North Carolina, home.
Naturally, if you move here, we hope that you will be looking for a a new church home as well. There are many opportunities for you and your family to be involved here at Shining Light. We have a graded Sunday School with various Bible Study Classes for the different age groups. Our Christian school, Shining Light Baptist Academy, serves children from K3-12th grade. We are developing our 72 acre campus to go forward with our youth camp, Heritage Christian Camp, and are building a new Nursery/Preschool Building. We produce Bible tracts, booklets, and other materials through our printing ministry, Shining Light Publishing. We also have an internet radio station, and are involved in other church planting and missions efforts.
We are located in Monroe, NC, which is the largest city in Union County. Besides Monroe, Union County includes Indian Trail, Marshville, Marvin, Mineral Springs, Stallings, Unionville, Waxhaw, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, and Wingate. As of March 2007, Union County continued to be the fastest growing county in North Carolina, and the 15th fastest growing county in America.
